The English Language Academy (ELA) (구 Chamber College) has been established as a school since 1988 and is staffed by a team of qualified, dedicated, and experienced teachers who are all native or bilingual speakers of English. Direct Communicative Technique methods are used throughout. These are currently considered the most effective systems of broadening the students' knowledge of vocabulary, structures and idioms.

Using only English, the teachers encourage the students to practise the language. Their interest is stimulated through new situations and alternative ways of expression. The courses cater for both fluency and accuracy.

Students are given a workbook and basic handouts according to their level and as prescribed by the Academy. These are complemented with material from the Resource Library of the school. Audio and video material is also used.If students move up a level, they will have to buy a workbook for the new level for the price of €20.00. There are six levels within the courses from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (C2).

ELA offers expert tuition in a number of courses. The level of each participant is carefully assessed before the commencement of the course. Students have to complete a placement test and have an oral interview with our Director of Studies. On completion of the course, the participant is awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

The English Language Academy is fully licensed as a school by the Malta Ministry of Education, is an accredited founder member of FELTOM (Federation of English Language Teaching Organisation in Malta).The school prepares students for international examinations such as IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge and TOEIC examinations. ELA is currently the only centre in Malta for TOEFL iBT.

Our success is based on the fact that our school is still considered a 'small' school in today's market. A family atmosphere prevails and our office is open from 8.00hrs - 17.00hrs and sometimes later to assist clients. Our groups are small and international. We cater for students of all ages, from the very young (four year olds) to the more mature students.

We offer various discounted indivual packages throughout the year. A ten percent discount is given to returning students. A discount of ten percent is also given to two or more students booking together during high season, and low season discounts for those students booking General English or Business English group courses during the period October to April. Long term discounts are also given to those students who book courses for three weeks or more.

We also offer special packages for groups with free group leader. A packed activities programme is offered. Several activities are also offered free of charge. ELA is only a 10-minute walk away the Msida-Sliema seafront, with multiple snackbars and kiosks located nearby.

Free WiFi is available throughout the school for our students to make use of.

Malta International Airport is only 25 minutes away from the school by car. ELA offers arrival and departure transfers for a minimal fee of Euro 40.00 (both ways included; one-way is priced at €23.00). Clients are met at the airport by one of our reps who are fluent in most languages and then taken to their accommodation. On departure, they are picked up and taken to the airport where they will be helped with their check-in.

We have recently moved to new premises! ELA is situated only 10 minutes away from the Msida-Sliema Seafront, Malta's foremost residential and tourtistic town. Amenities such as supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, shopping malls, and the beach are all located within walking distance of the school. This area is is located close enough to walk to popular destinations in the Sliema area, whilst being tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
